Core Material
SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) uses a rigid limestone-and-PVC core that is dense, hard and completely waterproof. WPC (Wood-Plastic Composite) blends wood fibre with PVC, giving a warmer, more rigid feel but slightly higher moisture absorption.
Waterproof Performance
SPC is inherently waterproof — the core does not absorb water, making it suitable for bathrooms, showers and wet zones. WPC is water-resistant but not fully waterproof; it performs best in dry to moderately humid areas.
Installation
Both systems use click-lock or adhesive installation. SPC's rigidity makes it forgiving over imperfect subfloors. WPC is slightly more flexible and can be easier to cut on site.
Cost & Availability
SPC generally sits at a lower price point and is widely available. WPC commands a slight premium for its wood-fibre composition and natural feel.
Recommendation
Choose SPC for bathrooms, kitchens, basements and high-moisture commercial areas. Choose WPC for living rooms, bedrooms, offices and retail where warmth and comfort are priorities.
